How I run a one person business on Claude Code

Published 8 September 2026 · Matthew Morgan

Almost everything on the channel is built by one person and an AI assistant. This is what that looks like in practice: the way of working, the habits that matter, and the videos where I show each part.

The premise

The gap between having an idea and having a working version of it used to be weeks and a developer. It is now an afternoon and a clear description. That changes who can run a software business. You no longer need to be technical. You need to know what is worth building, who will pay for it, and how to describe it precisely. Those are the skills of writers, marketers, consultants and salespeople, which is why I think they are the people these tools were built for. The Ultimate Beginner’s Guide To Claude is where I walk through that from the very start.

What a build actually looks like

The clearest demonstration is Watch me start and sell an AI Service in 2 hours. It starts with a blank page, picks a service a real business will pay for, builds the delivery with Claude, and goes out to find a customer, all in one sitting. Nothing is skipped, so you can see how much of the time goes on deciding and how little goes on the building itself.

For a plan with a deadline, How To Make Your First $1,000 Online In 14 Days With Claude sets out the order of operations across two weeks. And I Asked Claude Opus 4.8 To Make Me $1,000 is the same idea run as an experiment, to show what the newest models can do when you give them a clear target.

The habits that matter

Say what done looks like before you start. Most of the difference between a great result and a mediocre one is whether the task was specified. If you can describe the finished thing in two sentences, the tools will get you there. This is the exact skill copywriting teaches, and it is why people from writing and sales backgrounds do so well here.

Test like a customer. Every build ends with the same question: if I had just paid for this, what would I click first, and does it work? Then the assistant is asked to do exactly that, for every page and every button. It catches more than reading the code ever does.

Ship in the same sitting. A change that is not live is not finished. Build, check, deploy, and get the link back, in one go. This is the difference between a folder of half finished projects and a business.

Keep a system. Claude + Obsidian is a cheat code for making money shows how pairing the assistant with a simple notes setup means everything you learn about your customers, offers and processes stays available and keeps compounding.

Keeping up with the tools

The models improve quickly, and each step up makes more possible for a solo builder. When a new one lands I make a practical video the same day, such as Claude Fable 5 Just Dropped. Here’s How To Actually Use It and Claude Mythos Just Dropped. The point of those videos is always the same: what does this let one person do now that they could not do last week?

What this replaces

It replaces the developer you would otherwise hire and the agency you would otherwise pay. It replaces the wait between an idea and a prototype. And it replaces a surprising number of monthly subscriptions, because you can now build the exact tool you need instead of renting something close enough.

What it does not replace is knowing what to build, talking to customers, and the discipline to finish. Those were always the job. The good news is they are learnable, and they are what every video on the channel is really about.

Where to start

If you can write clearly, sell honestly and think about what a customer actually needs, you are further ahead with these tools than you realise. How I’d Make Money with Claude if my life depended on it is the plan I would follow from zero. The structured version of it is the AI Partners programme. The free version is on YouTube.
